Note to self...

I've gotten the dark shirt issue done down to Bipolar Countdown E (next do F)  and up from Ya Think? (next do Now Would I Lie to You?).  Now it's time to get ready to go get cards from Hallmark and a dark chocolate cake along with vanilla ice cream.  mmmmmmmmmmm

Happy Purrday to My Son Corwyn!!

Fourteen years ago today (not quite an hour from now after six days of labor) my son Corwyn was born.  He has been raised with cats.  He learned very quickly that you Do Not Pull Tails.  Right now Corwyn is on my bed with Thomas' head laying on him.  As soon as Corwyn came home from the hospital we put him in the cradle that has been in my family for several centuries.  Immediately the late Christopher T. Cat took up his duties as Baby Guard Cat (he had done this with Jennifer as well) and after sniffing Corwyn to ensure he had his scent, he settled down at the end of the cradle.  He regally permitted the other cats to come "sniff the young Princeling" but if their head went too close to the edge of the cradle he would rise up and bop! them!!

Once Corwyn was out of the crib and starting to crawl he gained "his cat", Quigley the Demon Dust Bunny Hunter.  They were friends until the day that Quiggles passed away two years ago.  As you can see, they were the best of buds and Quigley was puddy in Corwyn's hands... and vice versa!!

A boy and his cat.

It took awhile for Corwyn to get over the loss of his very best friend.  It also took some time for him to find another cat.  Dale isn't ready to get another cat.  Four is more than plenty for him and for a time it seemed that the other members of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde had already bonded to certain humans.  But wait!!  But wait!!  Mister Kitten, who had always been a wee bit stand-offish (probably due to the fact that his 'mom' had gone immediately off to college and then moved out), began warming up to Corwyn.  AHA!!  And we noticed that Mister Kitten could usually be found sleeping on Corwyn's bed.  Corwyn just told me that one of the drawers in his dresser came out (and he can't get it back in), so Mister Kitten is sleeping there!!).  Gee, you think Corwyn may have found his new cat??

The boy begins the "poke" game with Mister Kitten.

This is the shirt that Corwyn got for his birthday!!  ::grin::

Cat Crazies!!

Yesterday was Cat Crazy day.  Normally we have Cat Crazies one at a time.  You know, those Cat Crazies when your fur babies suddenly race around the house, chasing Things You Can Not See, jumping around, pouncing for no reason, doing back flips, and then stopping to lick themselves and look up at you like everything is perfectly normal.  ::snort::  In our house, yesterday was Cat Crazy Day.  This means that not one, not two, not three... but four... yes, four cats had the Cat Crazies!!!  Fortunately for us this wasn't all at one time.  Well, at least not for long.  Thank Goodness they've all been pretty well trained to watch out for Mom!!!  Having bad knees etc. a crazed cat racing under my legs could make me fall and this would Not be a Good Thing.

We're used to Mister Kitten and Star having the Cat Crazies.  This is normal around here.  After all, they're the 'babies', even if Mister Kitten is three and Star is ~eight-nine.  However,  yesterday they were joined by Thomas!!  Thomas, being the dominant cat in the pride rarely gets into the act.  But then... then... yes then!  Zaphoid Beeblebrox.  Zaphoid Beeblebrox aka Emo Kitty got the Cat Crazies.  Zaphy??  Zaphy??  Cat Crazies?!?  Has the world come to an end?  The twins really surprised us with that, especially since they are now about 12-13.  ::shakes head::

I didn't do it!!  It was my Evile Twin!!

In other news, my husband's camera is down as well.  ::sigh::  We've got rabies shots coming up as well as bills to pay.  meh.  So there's not telling when I'll have another camera to work with, even one of the cheapy ones from the grocery.  I found out this morning that the wife of a friend of ours is going into surgery to have her breast removed (stage 2 or 3 cancer).  d*mn.  I'm going through things in the house trying to "Clean Sweep/House" and put the things in my daughter's Girl Scout troop garage sale.  If my daughter can manage to get her grades up ::glares at daughter:: then she can go with the troop to Savannah this summer to visit Juliette Low's birthplace.  ::sigh::  I hope she can pull it off.  I'd like to be able to make more brochures and business cards for the shop but I just can't afford to do it right now.  Other things come first.  Food for us and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde (Iams... anything else makes them sick, this is a Bad Thing!), meds for us & rabies shots for them, etcetera etcetera etcetera  and everyone else is in the same boat.  I pray for everyone each night.  Okay, I'm getting maudlin... I'm going to put up a breast cancer graphic from the shop in honor of my friend's wife.  EDIT:  She had the surgery on Friday at Vanderbilt and is home recovering.
