What time is it??? or How to Keep Mom Sleeping...

Once again I had trouble getting to sleep last night.  Well, evidently my family decided that they shouldn't wake me up as they went through their morning routines.  The cats conspired with them to keep me sleeping by putting me in the Triangle of Sleep.  Zaphy took up the window seat spot.  Mister Kitten was opposite him on the bed and Star was up beside by my head.  I was toast.  I woke up just enough to remember my husband's farewell kiss as he left for work.  "Ha!" said Da Boys, "She is completely in our power!"  With Thomas at my feet I had no choice but to sleep until... 11?  12?

"Ah-ha!  She is in our power!  Let's make her sleep more Boys!"

I am still being bombarded with Kitty Power Vibes.  There is a front coming in which means that I'm having a fibro & arthritis flare (joy of joys!).  As a result, Zaphy is guarding the window ("That makes the weather stay away, right mom??").  Mister Kitten has just returned to the bed after his morning adventures ("Hey mom!  I helped you stay asleep, but I gotta have my morning adventures!!").  Star is going back and forth between his usual poking about under the bed & around my things whilst trilling at me ("I need to make sure you're still paying attention to me, mom!") and getting up on the bed and trillpurring at me ("What does that mean, mom??"  "It means that you're trilling and purring at the same time, Star"  "Oh.  Do other cats do that, mom?"  "Very few Star"  "Huh.  I wonder why?  I'd better finish teaching that to the kitten.").  He's also trying to use the computer.

  1. Your cats have powers that make you sleep more? Oh, my....Please have them teach the Fuzzy Tales crew how to do that. Please. I beg you. Being up at 4AM or earlier, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year is NOT fun!

  2. See, my cats don't really affect me too much, unless they are in an uncomfortable spot and I can't fall asleep. But if they try to wake me up they usually aren't successful (and if they are I will usually stay in bed anyway).

It stinks that the weather is causing your fibro and arthritis to flare up. I know my allergies have been bad but that tends to be kind of weather related too (but for me rain usually brings relief - I often say that my headache will go away when it starts to rain and it works). I hope the front passes quickly - but at least you have the kitties there to keep you comfy! And I am curious what the trilling sounds like - Virgil beeps - at least I call it that (sometimes squeaks) in addition to meowing - I can always find him by the sounds (which are high and nothing like his meow). Lola does a hummpurr - her purr has a vocal tone with it (it is less now since her voice has gotten weird since her weird illness a while back). I am curious if it is similar to one of those. Lola's can go with a meow too.

  3. @Kea - It's easier now that they have my husband and my daughter to pounce on and order breakfast. ::weg:: But before that I would look at them and say, "Tue das nicht! You have food!" until they figured out that mom needed more sleep. I also have had "alarm clock" cats whom I trained to wake me up only on workdays.

@Amy - Ah, you have excellent control! allergies baaaad. I have those as well. meh. Trilling is hard to describe. It's almost like a rolling "r" that goes high at the end. Mister Kitten does squeaks. Right now I have three on the bed and when I use the mouse Mister Kitten keeps putting his head on my hand which means he thinks I should shut the computer down. ::rolls eyes::

  4. Ah, the Cat Triangle! One of Nature's wonders. I do think cats have special cumulative powers...hee hee! I never want to get up if I have to leave a furry purry. But, ususally they're clamoring for breakfast and up before me!
