Rose when she was adopted at ~4 weeks
This
morning I had to take Rose to the emergency vet. She was circling left,
panting heavily and her eyes were so dilated she had trouble seeing.
She threw up a HUGE hairball. The emergency vet thought she must
have gotten into some kind of toxin. They recommended IV fluids, nausea
meds and observation for the day. The estimate was from ~$371-750. Of
course, they needed the upper end paid up front.
I called Dr Weaver (Brogli Weaver & Lane in M'boro) who said to
bring her in as they have Sat hours. Good thing I did! (BTW the
emergency vet refunded my $85 fee! I'll need it).
He feels we are looking at an inner ear or neurological problem. She was only circling occasionally and her pupils were not as dilated but still far too dilated for her to see well. Rose is being observed there.
UPDATE: I just heard from Dr. Weaver. Her pupils are still dilated but she is more active (she had to be sedated for them to be able to draw blood!). He is keeping her under observation as he is very concerned about her overly dilated eyes. I can't think of ANYTHING she could have gotten into (with a Horde, we're VERY careful about those kind of things!). So we still don't know what's going on but she is feeling better. Dr. Weaver will call me later this evening. Obviously this will mean a big vet bill coming right after having had to take her brother Merlin in a few weeks ago for his seizure. ::sigh:: If anyone can spare a dollar or two I would really appreciate it as I'm on SSDI. But all prayers, energy, well-wishes you can send this pretty girl are especially needed! Thanks.
