New Section, Vet Called, or I's been busy...

I just finished putting in a new section called Cat Fancy in the shop.  It's got designs for those of us who are Cat Mommies & Daddies, who feed kitties, & those who breed sweetie-babies.  There are nine designs in the section and I hope someone would like to give some of them a home!  I particularly like how this one looks...

Brogli, Lane, Weaver, Alexander Animal Hospital called today to remind me that it's time for kitty vaccines (eeep!!!!  four times... eeeeep!!).  This is the vet for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde.  I used this vet starting in the early '90s.  They kick butt and take names.  No, really.  I'll tell you why.  Back in the early '90s I knew someone who had a slew of cats, two of whom were unspayed females.  Unfortunately she also had unneutered males in the house.  ::sigh::  She couldn't afford to have them broken (hey!  everything was working right before surgery, right?) according to her, unlike us who had ours done one at a time every time we could scrape up the money (and didn't get another one until all of the others were broken).

Anyway... one of her Queens had a litter of about two weeks and the other had just delivered.  The second one, who was her favorite, started staggering around the house like a drunkard after office hours.  She called her vet in a panic who said, "Oh she probably just got into some beer.  Call me in the morning."  ::head:desk::  While this woman may have been a college student, she did not let her cats get into things they should not!!  She called me up crying.  I immediately told her to call my vet which she did.  The on-call vet listened to what she said, asked some questions, and said, "I'll meet you at the office."  He spent all night trying to save her.  It turned out that the poor baby had kidney failure.  No one knew because all of the symptoms are ones that this particular cat exhibited during pregnancy.  She brought the litter of three kittens home and I helped her get the other Queen to adopt them.

Anyway, if you live in the area this is the vet office to use.  Of course, part of my predjudice might also be how much they fawn over my babies whenever they've had to go in, the quality of care, how happy the office dogs are, how wonderful all the staff are... oh, is that my outloud type??  ::grin::  At any rate, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde gives them Four Paws UP!  Which multiplied by four...

  1. Wow, you take all 4 at one time - you are brave! Mine are staggered out (before Floyd passed he and Kirzon were at the same time, but they still went one week apart). I did 3 at one time and it was horrible - after that I vowed that no more then 2 at a time (emergencies would obviously not be included in this). And it sounds like you have an awesome vet - we are the same way, we love our vet.

  2. I've got two kids to help and three of my boys are leash trained. Only Mister Kitten hasn't been worked on that. We'll make sure that the next baby is trained to the leash. I really can't stagger them out. We can only afford the rabies shot and then only during the week they do the reduced price thing in the spring. ::sigh::

Awesome vets need to be praised & talked about as much as possible!! Ours are so cool. They donate their time to taking care of strays as well. Our late Audrey Catburn (a Maine Coon mix) was mauled by dogs and they were the ones who saved her life before we adopted her.

Unfortunately she never got over that and after only two years she actually committed suicide. The only cat I've ever seen do that. It totally freaked me out and I was so thankful to Bast that my children were at school. The vet we had at the time was not far from our house and she passed away just as I reached their parking lot. I was devastated but I felt that the fact that she crossed the Rainbow Bridge with that timing was a sign from Bast.
