MIA - Thomas

MIA!!!
Sir Thomas of Snuggle
(aka Thomas aka Tom Tom aka Tom)
Murfreesboro, TN
Escape Artist
Missing since  ~0745 CST Saturday July 9th

Wednesday I had a procedure done, went fine.  My laptop has been wonky.  Saturday we went to take the Horde to the vet1 (over $3002).  Audrey & Thomas played the escape artist card.  Audrey came right to the front door when we got home.  Thomas is still missing.

1 - We love our vet & our vet loves all of us!
2 - Zaphy has a UTI, Knives has ear mites (itchy!), and everycat needed Pernicious Flea stuff!

Where oh Where Have We Been??

"As you can see, I'm back to normal!
Now, I just need to inspect this water here."

"I've been resting up so I can switch out with Da Boys
to help make mom feel better.  The weather has been
very changeable and it makes it harder on her.  That's
why she hasn't had the 'puter on so we can blog."

 "What?!  We haven't been blogging??
Quick!  Someone get me a treat, I feel faint!"

"I am also all healed up.  Mom tried keeping all of Da Boys
inside but dad isn't any good at it.  Plus Thomas and Zaphy
yell if they don't get to go out.  I paw the door and all of us
give mom & dad the vote of 'no confidence'.  Dad doesn't like
the smell.  We have him twisted around our paws!  Muahaha!"

"This is how mom feels right now.  But this next week will be hard on her too.  Both kids have a concert tomorrow night, Corwyn has a doctor's appointment on Tuesday (mom's going to try to change it), she has to see a lawyer about SSD on Thursday and on Saturday Jennifer is being regurgitated from high school!!!"

"This is our backyard.  Once mom has enough money she wants
to put in a cat-proof fence (yeah right!!  How're you gonna do
that mom??)so we can go out of our window door and into a safe place.  Audrey is very very good about going out on the harness but the rest of us want to run OUT!  Mom can't put anything toward it
yet because of Audrey's vet bill (over $200!) and shots coming up.
(shhhh!  Don't tell Thomas, Zaphy, Knives or Audrey!)"

Clean Bill of Health from Dr. Alexander!!

"Mom took me to go see Dr. Alexander this morning after she viciously gave me a pill and my second dose of fever medicine.  Mean ole' mommy!!  When I got there they took me into the back and the mean ole' vet tech stuck something up my... my... my... ::shudder:: oh the horrors!!  But then they took me back to my mom and there weren't even any cat treats!!  Dr. Alexander came in and told us that my temperature was 102.3 and I had gained an ounce.  He and mom were very happy with me.  Mom told him that I didn't like the water in the bowl but I started drinking as soon as mom put my favorite fountain in the bathroom.  I used my litter box and both of them were happy with me.  Dr. Alexander told mom I don't have to go back unless I get to feeling bad again, mom will keep an eye on me."

"Mommy and I want to say thank you for everyone who purred & prayed for me!  Mommy is a little worried because my visit to the vet costed her 220 green papers but she said I was worth it."

EMERGENCY PURRS FOR AUDREY!!

"I haven't been rushing in to play with mom in the bathroom for the last two days.  Mom thought it was because she has gotten up so late.  After all, I was eating & drinking okay.  But today I was very lethargic and mom went to pick me up to see what was wrong.  My third eyelids were showing about 1/2".  But what really freaked her out for some reason was that I felt too hot!  Then the mean ole' mommy put me in a towel and shoved something up my... my... oh kitties it's just too awful to talk about!!  She said my temperature was 105.8 and call up our vet.  Dr. Alexander called her back.  They talked for awhile and mommy said she had a funny feeling.  So she & Jennifer bundled me into my harness and off we went to the vet.  Fortunately I like car rides.  The mean ole' vet took some bloods because they were worried about feline leukemia or aids.  But I'm a wonderful cat and my test was negative.  ::sticks out tongue::  Told you mommy!!  Mean ole' vet gave me two shots!!  One was a strong antibiotic and the other was to help bring my fever down.  I got two treats afterward and Dr. Alexander said that it was a good sign that I wanted them.  He gave mom some antibiotic pills to give me (seven pills) ack! ack! and two syringes (ick! ick) of stuff for my fever.  I have to go back on Monday to see how my fever is and how I'm feeling.  Dr. Alexander said that it was a Good Thing that mom brought me in because otherwise I might not have made it.  Mom said she had a gut feeling I needed to be seen and that she'll find the green papers somewhere.  (they charge $70 plus the usual $65 office visit for emergency visits)  Fortunately Dr. Alexander didn't think I needed to stay at the office but could stay at home.  He said I didn't have to be isolated from Da Boys but mom said she'd do it anyway so that she could keep an eye on what I'm eating & drinking & doing in the kitty litter.  Dr. Alexander thinks my mommy is smart.  I could have told him that!!  After all, she is my mommy!!  He also said that other than my fever I looked very very healthy.  Go me!!  I will let you know how I am feeling tomorrow and what Dr. Alexander says on Monday.  I will see him at 0830."

"This is me, being sick."

A Hard Day's Day as repurrted by Star

First the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde would like to say "We'll meet you later" to Sweet Praline... Heaven's Newest Angel.

graphic made by Kitty's Cat Chat

Now.  ::huh::  Mom didn't wake up until 1000 because dad didn't get home until 0300 and mom wanted to make sure she was up to make sure he didn't let Star out accidentally.  Dad was actually just leaving when mom woke up and he started to leave before putting in our new window screen!!  Daddy said he was going to put it up this weekend but he kept doing Other Important Things.  Although we do have to admit that he was napping part of that time so...  Anyway mom made sure he stopped and put up our New Cat Proof  Screen!  Daddy said he didn't have time and mom said he did.  So he did and this is what it looks like.  We like having the window open but you can't make holes in the screen and you can't pop it out.  Poohbears!!
Mom still won't let me out even though I told her and told her and TOLD her that I was purrfectly fine!!  She went to the vet as soon as dad left.  She didn't even stop to put in her contacts!  Now I have to take a dropperfull of antibiotic twice a day along with the darn ole' drops in my eye!!  Do I look like I need to stay in??  Do I??  Do I???

This is me looking out the window and lamenting at mom that she's trying to take a picture of me AGAIN!!  And stop it with those compresses!!  They're hot!  Look at my furs!  Oh wait!!  My dearest Admiral!!  Close your eyes!!  I can't have you seeing my furs like this!!  And now mom is talking about starting to save up little by little once her SSD goes through (ps mom, you forgotted to call about that again today!) and do some remodeling in the back.

Daddy would need to have a workshop on the far right for his tools & the lawnmower and him to do stuffs so that he wouldn't keep leaving the door open.  Dad leaves the fence gate open sometimes.

This is where the shed is where dad has his tools right now.  Dad says it's not really big enough to do anything anyway.  I think he wants a carport & workshop combined so he can do work on cars in the winter.  ::snicker::

This is the view from the back fence toward mom & dad's bedroom window.  Mom's going to have to find someone to figure out how much it would cost to fence over the area.  Materials, building permit, labor lalala.  Of course, if mom had her wish the roof would be a roof roof and there'd be a way to heat the pool for the winter!!  ::grin::

These are the roses blooming at the corner of the house.  Mom cut two of them when she went to get my antibiotics to give to the vet people.

For all of our furfriends and their Feeders who need
this card this week...we'll all meet again some day.

PS Thank yous to "You Know Who You Ares" for your donations.  My antibiotics were $22 so that came in handy for mom to be able to pay for them!!  I say she'd better go get me some more greenies!!

Star Will Go Back to the Vet Monday - UPDATE - mom will go pick up meds for me

"I went outside last night.  Mom wasn't happy with me."

"She was even more unhappy when I came up to go inside."

"The fur on my head was wet & sticking up.  When mom checked there were two sores on it.  Mean ole' mommy cleaned me up & dusted me with goldenseal powder.  Mean ole' mommy!!  She's making everycat be even more vigilant about keeping me in and is going to take me back to the vet tomorrow rather than call them today since I'm being my usual self.  Our vets are good about coming in when we need them even when their office is closed but it's Easter and unless I start feeling worse today mom will let me wait."

"So if my furfriends could send me a few purrs
& their Feeders some prayers I'd appreciate it."

PS The Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde & their Feeders would like to wish everycat & their Feeders (and our woofie friends too)
HAPPY EASTER!!

PPS because Star will have to go back to the vet, he could use a green paper or two if you can spare it to help pay for his vet bill.  We have a dedicated paypal account for the Horde and a button on the left hand side of our blog.  And of course, all of the profits from our shop also go to the care, feeding & vet bills of the Horde.

UPDATE:  Star finally came down from Jennifer's room to eat some lunch which gave us a chance to get a good look at how his head is doing.  Now I'm seriously wondering if I should wait until tomorrow or not.

The Story of the Lilac Bush...

 "mmmmm, this smells goooood."

 "Yesssss, it's mine!  All mine!"

"But I'd better mark it to make sure everycat knows it."

"See mom??  It made the lilac bush bloom even better!!"

"What?  Me??  Star!!  How could you tattle on me to mom!!"

"Be nice to me!!  Mom took me to the vet today because
my eye was hurting!  He gave me drops for my eyes, mom
had to pay them nearly $75.00 and they didn't even give me greenies!!  Good thing mom gave me some when we got
home.  She said I'll get more after each time I get meds."

That's Okay Mom, We'll Keep You Sleeping!! & Happy Veteran's Day!!!

So I slept all day after getting back from my vet and all day yesterday and both nights.  The Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde kept me surrounded and are still hanging around because I am soooo exhausted.  I'm not sure if the shot helped or not.  If it did, it wasn't much.  I'm hoping the appeal papers come in today because I have to fill them out and get them to SS disability office by the 18th.  I have a new appointment with my old neurologist who has moved to Vanderbilt (waaaay cool hospital in Nashvegas, TN) next Wednesday.  My arms tingled all last night.  meh.  I'm resting up to be able to pick up Corwyn from a MidState Freshman Honor Choir Practice at school today.  Last night he tried on my husbands old tuxedo.  It fit!!  NooOOOooo!!  My baby can't be big enough to fit a man's tux!!  14" neck & 34" arms!!  NoooOOOooo!!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde takes turn helping mom sleep.

Well, I'm going to see if I have the energy to take a bath as well as put in more of the new products in the shop.  Remember that the Halloween stuff is up & on sale until the end of this week & that the Breast Cancer Awareness items are on sale through Christmas!!

Boy, Did I Fubar That One!!

I was planning to move the Breast Cancer Awareness into it's own section.  ::head:laptop::  I got it moved and then accidentally erased it.  gah!  This means that I have to put it back in bit by bit.  Ergo, I'll be working on that first.  However, they finally got the 2011 calendars up!!  blah.

Star seems to be doing better.  There aren't large bumps anymore.  OTOH I haven't seen any pus come out.  On one hand, he seems to be feeling better, he's been taking his antibiotics.  On the other hand, I'm not sure if he needs to see the vet again, especially since we can't afford it (BTW thanks again to everyone who contributed!!  Your contributions got us to within ~$1 of Star's bill!!).  He's still sleeping a lot.  If I could find a working camera I'd take some new pictures, but of course, it's gone missing!!  What a week!!  I've had one teacher for each kid get in touch with me about things they need to do to keep from getting Fs for the first six weeks.  And, once again, it's not that they haven't done the work, they just haven't turned it in.  Gah!!  I need a vacation!  At any rate, today I'll leave you with one of my favorite Breast Cancer Awareness graphics, which will probably be going up in the store some time today.

Which reminds me, I should make some of the long bumper stickers.  Oh!  Did you know that the rectangular & oval stickers are made out of the same material as the bumper stickers??  I think that is soooo cool.

StarWalker BitCat the ComputerKitty Will See the Vet on Monday

"No, really, I'm fine mom.  I don't really need to see the vet."

I had thought I'd noticed a small bump on Star's spine but it wasn't always there and he never reacted to touching it so I wasn't that worried.  Until last night.  My husband and I both noticed not only a large bump (yes, large 2" x 2") on his spine about 2" down from his shoulders.  Then he moved while we were petting him (still no reaction to be petted or poked) and we saw another small bump.  I called our vet (they are open on Saturday until 1... go Brogli!!)  They are the only vet I use when I've lived in Smurfreesboro.  Part of this has to do with the fact that besides that fact that they rock, but when a friend of mine called her vet when her Queen was in trouble and delivering he told her the cat had just gotten into some beer.  Riiiiiight.  I told her to call my vet.  He told her to met him at the office and proceeded to stay up all night trying to save momma & the litter.  Mom had kidney failure but the kittens made it.  He was so apologetic.

"Hey!!  I thought you were talking about me?!"

::sigh::  The vet was booked city today.  Not unusual because even though they stay open until 7 there are still a lot of people who work during the week and need Saturday  appointments.  OTH I know that he starts feeling punk or otherwise gets worse before his appointment and someone will help.  The hard part is that the kids' dad still hasn't been able to find a job yet.  ::sigh::  I'm praying that a) he isn't too sick b) it won't take too many green papers (we're already on plastic for the month) and c) my ex will find a job soon.

Please send purrs and prayers for StarWalker BitCat the ComputerKitty and if you happen to have a green paper or two to spare, we have a PayPal button on the left.  Thank-you SO much!!

"Okay Star and every other kitty needing purrs, this candle is for you!"

Purrrs for Tanis!!!

"Our brother Tanis lives with Sarah in Nashvegas.
He hasn't been eating since Wednesday and today
daddy went up there to help her take him to the vet.
He got blood draw for all kinds of tests!!!
Fortunately most of them were good news.
His blood sugar was up a little bit but the
vet lady said that was probably due to stress.
He had some white blood cells, whatever those are,
that made her think he had an infection.
They won't get the thyroid test back until tomorrow."

"Tanis is not a people cat and he does not like getting into the
cat box that takes you to the vet (does anyone??).
But today he only hissed a little bit.
And he didn't really yell while he was in the car.
The vet lady is keeping him overnight at the vet place."

"Tanis is going to get antibiotics and subcutaneous fluids
[Zaphpoid -that's a good thing!]
and we'll know more tomorrow.
Of course the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde
will be sending him purrs (he used to live here with us!)
and our Feeders will be sending him prayers."

"GET WELL SOON, TANIS!!"

New Section, Vet Called, or I's been busy...

I just finished putting in a new section called Cat Fancy in the shop.  It's got designs for those of us who are Cat Mommies & Daddies, who feed kitties, & those who breed sweetie-babies.  There are nine designs in the section and I hope someone would like to give some of them a home!  I particularly like how this one looks...

Brogli, Lane, Weaver, Alexander Animal Hospital called today to remind me that it's time for kitty vaccines (eeep!!!!  four times... eeeeep!!).  This is the vet for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde.  I used this vet starting in the early '90s.  They kick butt and take names.  No, really.  I'll tell you why.  Back in the early '90s I knew someone who had a slew of cats, two of whom were unspayed females.  Unfortunately she also had unneutered males in the house.  ::sigh::  She couldn't afford to have them broken (hey!  everything was working right before surgery, right?) according to her, unlike us who had ours done one at a time every time we could scrape up the money (and didn't get another one until all of the others were broken).

Anyway... one of her Queens had a litter of about two weeks and the other had just delivered.  The second one, who was her favorite, started staggering around the house like a drunkard after office hours.  She called her vet in a panic who said, "Oh she probably just got into some beer.  Call me in the morning."  ::head:desk::  While this woman may have been a college student, she did not let her cats get into things they should not!!  She called me up crying.  I immediately told her to call my vet which she did.  The on-call vet listened to what she said, asked some questions, and said, "I'll meet you at the office."  He spent all night trying to save her.  It turned out that the poor baby had kidney failure.  No one knew because all of the symptoms are ones that this particular cat exhibited during pregnancy.  She brought the litter of three kittens home and I helped her get the other Queen to adopt them.

Anyway, if you live in the area this is the vet office to use.  Of course, part of my predjudice might also be how much they fawn over my babies whenever they've had to go in, the quality of care, how happy the office dogs are, how wonderful all the staff are... oh, is that my outloud type??  ::grin::  At any rate, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde gives them Four Paws UP!  Which multiplied by four...

Who's That Knocking at Our Window?

"He's furry and a big pain in the a**" is what my husband just sang.  This morning it was Thomas.  You see, our vociferous cats (yes, even Mister Kitten, even though he doesn't have the classic Siamese voice)  have been trained to "knock" at the windows and doors to get our attention when they want into the house rather than scratch on the screens.  Now granted that this doesn't always work, but they are getting better.  So when you hear knocking at the window at our house, you immediately check for errant cats.

This means that my husband had to slip downstairs (split-level house) to let whomever was out.  Being half-asleep he wasn't sure who did what, although he did know that Zaphoid went Out, and that the skunk smell was back.  Our street backs up to about ten to fifteen acres of farmland (okay, they just grow hay) so we have a lot of 'critters' around.  Oddly enough, we're also within walking distance of a Krogers shopping complex.  Go figure.

Back to Zaphoid, I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before or not, but Zaphoid doesn't care for kitty litter.  This means that we're constantly letting him in and out while we're awake.  This also means that he does his kitty best to hold it near our waking time so he can go to the "bathroom".  He has been known to wake me up for this purpose.  "Mom?  Mom?  Mom!  Mom!  Mooooo-ooooom!   Meeeeeee-oooooooom!  Gotta Go!" rather like a small child learning to potty.  Zaphoid is probably our most vocal cat so far as his own needs are concerned.

He is also known as Emo Kitty.  Poor Emo Kitty.  He often jumps up on the bed and when you ask him what he wants, he doesn't know.  He doesn't head out toward the food or the door.  He isn't making a "I'm sick, please take me to the vet." meow.  He talks and talks to you while you pet him until your arms fall off (and hopefully give him a good brushing as well).  Then he either gets up on one of the pillows or down at the end of the bed and lays with his head on his paw looking like a black poet.  I swear.  The picture of Emo Kitty comes straight from one of Zaphoid's favorite poses.

Sometimes I expect him to put on a black beret, start snapping his fingers or beating a drum, and reciting poetry about death, doom, and despair.  He lays his head over the side of the bed with the most worried look (and will purr if you pet him while he's doing this!).  When he first started doing this, I took him to the vet.  Nope!  Perfectly fine, absolutely gorgeous (all of my Tims can con the vet techs out of a gazillion treats! ::grin::), and completely healthy.  He's just our Emo Kitty.

wondering if I should switch this to b/w
